Entertainment and Social Applications

Entertainment and Social Applications

  • Maker/s: Jilian Parayno

We studied the many types of robotics applications in robotics. With this project, I constructed a robot for entertainment and social uses. It is an application that is used for toys or simply for fun. I created this project because Wall-E is one of my favorite Disney characters, and the plot of the movie never bores me.  Wall-e is a very compassionate robot in the film, but he was lonely until he found Eve. Apart from doing this project for fun, I made it to liven up my room and also to recycle things that are not used in my home, such as cardboard boxes. This robot is very eco-friendly since it is created very simply and uses materials that do not require too much money as most materials are found at home.

Inspiration

I've been wanting to build something for my room for a long time, and my favourite Disney character, Wall-e, sprang to mind. I was apprehensive to make Wall-e at first, but I think his character is adorable, and the movie is also extremely heartwarming. I also wanted to create this type of robotics application so that I could do anything other than watch television.

Reflection

Throughout the construction of my exit product, I was really concerned about my ability to execute my idea clearly. I was a bit apprehensive about the results of my work, however, after doing it, I am quite satisfied with it. I am grateful to my family, especially my sister, who helped me complete this project. I was too hesitant to begin this since I was working alone.

My intention was not to recreate Wall-E, but rather to make his character an inspiration for my work. I took too long to plan the general appearance of my work, yet I still managed to complete it on time. I was exhausted along the way, but I also had fun constructing my own robot.

I learned that we didn't have to be experts in this field to make a successful product. This project has taught students to be more creative and original while developing a project using things from their own homes. Amidst the negative aspects of my experiences, I was extremely proud of what I had done and what I had been through. I'm pleased with myself for finishing it and being able to look at my work and be satisfied with it. I understood that not everyone has the opportunity to build a project of this scale. That is why I am delighted and thankful to be able to do so.

About the Maker

I am very much a typical student who enjoys watching television, painting, sketching, and making miniatures. Once I'm bored, I edit films of breathtaking views of nature or sketch them. Currently, I'm striving diligently to accomplish my ambition of becoming a nurse.
