Inspiration
We were inspired to make this robotics application because we want to contribute to Mother Earth in our own little ways. Through upcycling the used facemask box/ cardboard we were able to turn the trash into something useful.
About the Makers
Bea Ocay- Making the exit product was both fun and frustrating. I had fun meeting up with my group. From discussing how to do our projects, and brainstorming ideas, to getting frustrated with things like messing up the code or wiring and spending hours trying to fix it. We would talk about little things as we did our part, Halima with the wiring, Sittie with the code, and me with the box. It was a fun experience. There were instances where the project would just not work at all. It would work fine in school but once I brought it home, despite not removing or changing the wires and using the same code, it would just suddenly not work. The servomotors were my main problem. I just couldn’t get those things to work properly. One second it's working, the next it's not moving at all. After going through the journey of making our exit product, I realized that it was exactly that. A Journey. Things aren't going to go smoothly as we’d like, we’re going to face challenges that seem so difficult to get past, challenges that get you so frustrated you end up crying or wanting to throw a fit. But, there are also its upsides. I got to enjoy my time with my group mates, laughing together, talking together, and struggling together. I even remember all three of us cheering when our 5 long hours of hard work finally paid off. At that moment I thought to myself, for all the trouble we went through, it was all worth it. I realized that despite everything, at the end of our journey, it's going to all be worth it. No matter how difficult things may be from our perspective, once we reach the end of our journey, it's all going to be a big breath of relief like a burden being taken off our shoulders. I realized that this applies to our life. There are going to be ups and downs, challenges that frustrate us to the point words can no longer describe, and moments that are going to stick with you for years to come. The point is to grow as a person based on the experience we face and continue to push forward because the reward of satisfaction, in the end, will forever be worth it. Another point to add is that, you’ll need people who’ll be with you throughout the journey. Don’t go venture off on your own. You should always have people who are willing to support you, be there and help you at a dead end, and be there with you to struggle. The struggles are less daunting with a friend, and the happiest moments are at their sweetest when you're staring at them with someone you hold dear.
Sittie Mangurun-
My overall experience is challenging but fun because it allows me to come up with new ideas as long as improving my knowledge of robotics. Moreover, it helps me to engage with other people and have fun. I realize that we also need these kinds of activities to prove that we are magis enough and responsible for our future learnings.
Halima Musor- To be honest, I was not excited when our teacher discussed our exit product this quarter. I was scared because I know that this subject was one of my weaknesses. I am really scared when coding is involved due to the fact that if I messed up one character in the code the whole system and the robot will not work. But, that fear went away when one of my members volunteered to do the coding. I was delighted as my fear is already gone and I just need to focus on making the structure of the robot. During the making of the product, I realized that I should trust myself and my classmate because through trust one can overcome a challenge. Thus, I thank my groupmates for trusting me and helping me to regain my trust in myself.
