Multi-Functional Toy Oven

Multi-Functional Toy Oven

  • Maker/s: Shane Ann Kaye G. Dandasan, Empress Rika D. Celestino, Marie Bette C. Santos

This DIY multifunctional Oven is not merely a DIY oven or toys we can find in stores but it is on the NEXT LEVEL (*insert next level by aespa*) with servo motors, potentiometer, and LEDs in it to make one’s experience more true to life.

First off, we know microwave oven has switches for the timer, type of cooking, and temperature level. But with our oven, simplified it into two switches which are now our two potentiometers. The first potentiometer is connected to the servo motor below the disc plate inside the oven which represents the disc of an actual oven as it rotates. However, with ours, it may not be a 360-degree turn but a 160-degree turn only to make our lives easier during coding. Just kidding! Jokes aside, the reason why it’s only a 160-degree turn aside from the fact that a servo motor can only take 160 degrees is that when toy foods such as carrots and corn are placed above the disc, it won’t fly away anywhere. Next, the second potentiometer is located above the first potentiometer, its purpose is the connection the LEDs in a fade-in and fade-out manner which represents the temperature of the oven. If the LEDs are at their highest brightness, the oven is at its highest temperature and when the LEDs are at their lowest brightness, the temperature of the oven will be low. So, one can control the temperature of the oven (not literally) in a manner when you’re playing a pretend kitchen/cook.

Another thing about our project is that it not only focuses on it being for entertainment purposes only but it can also be used for educational demonstration. Let’s say, for instance, that a child loves to cook and uses the oven all the time but is unaware of its hazards and safety and the mother is worrying about it. She can opt to have an educational demonstration along with her child by the professionals. Then, the professionals can use this DIY Oven to represent an actual oven because it is always better that there is a representation in front of you rather than imagining it. Plus, the child can also be amused and interested in the topic.

In short, our project is a multi-purpose, multifunctional, and all-rounder type of DIY Oven!

Inspiration

Our younger years have inspired us to make a robotic application of a multi-purpose microwave oven. Making this oven gives us a dejavu of our younger years and how we are amazed at cooking foods through a toy food or toy oven. Moreover, the younger generations also inspired us to do the oven model for educational purposes. Kids usually have a hard time understanding the hazards of a thing like an oven which is why this oven model can be used not only for entertainment but also for educational purposes as the oven can also be used for educational purposes especially in teaching young people the hazards of an oven. Younger generations inspired us to do an innovation that is something out of the box and something that could help educate our future generations and for them to love the world of cooking food.
